my mind maps of ideas.
I started off with two branches that said “what annoys me?” and “Awkward moments.”
These are two topics that I’ve always wanted to look into further (not being cheesy at all!!) but I have always wanted to express my hatred for certain things through my work, and I’ve literally ALWAYS found it fascinating HOW BLOODY AWKWARD TUBE JOURNEYS ARE!!
I actually can’t get over how weird commuting/travelling on the underground is. Its such a strange experience. As soon as you enter the carriage, it suddenly becomes really awkward, and eye contact is literally a sin! If you make eye contact with a stranger, it makes you panicky, and makes you think OMG they’re staring at me… okay I can’t look back, or they’ll think I’m staring at them! And then 2 mins later, you’ll look at them, and realise actually they’re not sitting there staring at you.
ITS SO WEIRD!! Why is it SO awkward?? Why are we so paranoid?
And why is choosing a seat on the top deck of a bus such a difficult experience. The amount of thoughts that run through our head as we try to make that decision must be rediculous. Can’t sit next to that person because of this, or that person because of that….etc.
My other idea was about tourists. I don’t hate tourists, but I do hate how many photographs they take. They seem to go around taking photographs of EVERYTHING, and its all just to show their friends and family when they go back home that they’ve seen this building, or that building, or an english pidgeon…etc. so whilst they’re taking all these pictures, they’re not actually appreciating the beauty of the REAL THING. Its like they’re viewing the whole world through a lense.
Its like people going to concerts and watching the performer through their camera screen as they film him/her… WHAT IS WITH THAT!?
I had this idea of walking around with a giant lense on my head, showing life completely distorted like a photograph would…
This awkward moments/journeys topic, I seem to be in more favour for… see what happens at the pitch!
